Raised in Brookfield, Wisconsin, Sean Hanish has an uncommon mix of art and commerce in his background. A graduate of the prestigious USC School of Cinema/Television, Sean completed his Master of Arts in 1994. Since that time, Sean has become a multi-award-winning film and commercial director and a successful entrepreneur starting and managing profitable businesses in entertainment, advertising, marketing and production.

In 2005, Sean formed his own commercial and film production company, Sean Hanish Creative, which was responsible for creating, directing and launching the most successful home furnishings line in history, Cindy Crawford Home. He also created campaigns for the leading retailer in home furnishings, Rooms to Go, along with CBS, NFL and Disney. Sean Hanish Creative has created over 700 spots for broadcast and won over 30 Telly Awards.

Sean has recently completed his feature directorial debut “RETURN TO ZERO” which he also wrote and produced. It is based on a true story of what he and his wife experienced in 2005 when they lost their first son in the final weeks of their pregnancy. It stars MINNIE DRIVER, PAUL ADELSTEIN, ALFRED MOLINA, CONNIE NIELSEN, KATHY BAKER, SARAH JONES and ANDREA ANDERS.

Sean is has been a member of the Director’s Guild of America (DGA) since 2005 and is a member of the Writer’s Guild of America. Before USC, he attended the University of Wisconsin and studied under master film theorist David Bordwell. For his academic excellence Sean was awarded with membership into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

He has partnered with Reconceiving Loss to create a digital archive to commemorate baby loss. He’s also written an essay about the impact of loss on fathers for RL.
